Qualifying/Elimination Finals
September 2nd 2009 13:30
Finals are here. And they look exciting.
For the first time in many years we have 4 very interesting games. There is no 1 or 2 teams that look to have the Premiership sewn up.
First up on Friday night we have the Crows and the Bombers at AAMI stadium. The Crows are great at home, and fixed the Blues good last week, so shouldn't have any problems against a heavily depleted Essendon lineup. Winner to play loser of St. Kilda and Collingwood. Loser going home.
Adelaide to win.
Saturday Afternoon is one of the bigger games of the weekend. Geelong and the Bulldogs. Geelong have been struggling recently, but have beaten the Dogs narrowly on 2 occasions this season. Geelong also would not have been expecting to play the Dogs until the Sunday afternoon. This is a very hard game to pick. Geelong have lots of finals experience, but very little momentum. The Dogs haven't been regulars in September for a while, but are way up high with their recent form. Winner through to Preliminary final. Loser to play winner of Brisbane Carlton.
Bulldogs to win just.
Saturday night will be interesting. Carlton and Brisbane in Brisbane. Saturday night regulars. The Lions have proven hard to beat at home, and have had plenty of experience under the lights. Carlton were embarrassing last week, and were rightly embarrassed. They will not go without a fight. They have proven to be unpredictable this season. Winner plays the loser of Cats/Dogs. Loser is out.
Brisbane to win.
Sunday Afternoon is incredibly interesting. The Saints, the standout team for the season against the Pies, who have been mediocre recently, but have won some big games during the season. Neither team's lead up form has been ideal. St. Kilda have played at the G once this season in round 22 in an unconvincing win over Melbourne. Collingwood have won about 50% there this year. Its as good as a coin toss for this one. But I think St. Kilda has a bit more to prove.
St. Kilda to win by a very little bit.
This will give us for Semi finals.
Geelong vs. Brisbane. winner to play St. Kilda.
Collingwood vs. Adelaide. winner to play Western Bulldogs.
That's all for this week. Good luck to your team if you are still around.
