Round 19 Tips
August 6th 2009 07:27
Hello all!
Just 4 rounds before the finals, and none more important than this. 11 teams are still in the mix for the final 8 spots, and this week will decide a few of those.
Friday night at the MCG is a big one. Carlton vs. Geelong. A win for Carlton could put them as high as 5th, however, a loss won't move them, they will be further behind. Geelong don't have to do anything to keep 2nd spot. 5 wins ahead of 3rd with 4 matches to go. You do the math.
Geelong by 5 goals.
Saturday afternoon at Docklands. The Dogs with their second training session at the Stadium in as many Saturday afternoons, this time against the Eagles. No worries for the number 3 team.
Western Bulldogs by 8 goals.
Also Saturday arvo down in Tassie sees the talking point of the week. The undefeated Saints against the reigning premiers, who have all of a sudden found that 2008 form. Throw in the non inclusion of captain Nick Riewoldt and star midfielder Leigh Montagna, along with Goddard, Baker and Hayes and all of a sudden its a very different game. But with 'ins' like Gardiner, Dawson and Ball, the Saints are still quite formiddable.
St. Kilda by 2 goals.
Saturday night at the MCG. Essendon are 2 wins outside the 8. Lions 1 win and percentage from 3rd. A must win for Essendon at home to keep September a likelyhood. However...
Brisbane by 3 goals.
Still Saturday night in Adelaide. A big game for the Crows and Magpies. Both with their eyes on top 4.
Adelaide by 3 goals.
Sunday afternoon, Docklands, MCG, Subiaco
North Melbourne by 3 goals over Melbourne.
Sydney by 5 goals over Essendon.
Port Adelaide by 2 goals over Fremantle.
