Round 9 Tips

May 20th 2008 12:49
Hello loyal readers!

It is going to be a great weekend of football and even i am struggling to pick definate winners. It is indiginous round this round, where we celebrate the past and present indiginous players who have made our game what it is today. All eyes will be on the Dreamtime Match on Saturday night between Essendon and Richmond. The reason behind these teams, incase you don't know, is that their jumpers make up the aboriginal flag. Essendon's Red and Black and Richmonds Yellow and Black.

Friday night will be an awesome display of skills as the Collingwood Magpies take on the Geelong Cats. Geelong have been struggling a little so far this year, but still manage to pull through when it matters to stay undefeated at the top of the ladder, while the Magpies, who have won only 2 of their last 5 games sit at 7 with 4 wins and 4 losses.

Geelong by 7 goals

Saturday starts with Carlton and Fremantle at the Dome. Fremantle have won just 1 game so far this season and sit at 14th, above cross town rivals West Coast and the struggling Demons only on percentage, while Carlton seem to be finding some form recently, winning 3 of their last 5. I expcted Carlton to beat Brisbane last Saturday night at the Dome, but they let me down. However Fremantle are a much worse team at the moment.

Carlton by 5 goals

The second Saturday game takes place at AAMI Stadium in Adelaide. Port Adelaide are the hosts to the Sydney Swans. Port Adelaide fell short of the hot Hawks in Tassie, while Sydney demolished Essendon in Sydney on Sunday.

Sydney by 5 goals

Saturday night starts in the West with the West Coast Eagles taking on the Adelaide Crows. Adelaide have been playing good consistent football recently, while the Juddless, Cousinsless, Kerrless Eagles struggle to put a second win on the board. They won't this week either.

Adelaide by 4 goals

Also on Saturday night is the big Dreamtime match between Essendon and Richmond. both sides have been very middle of the road recently, after such promising starts. Essendon were absolutely demolished by Sydney, while the Tigers pushed the Cats for 3 quarters last Saturday.

Richmond by 5 goals

Sunday football starts in Brisbane where the Lions host the Saints. The Saints have the list to run rampant on the AFL, but can't figure out how to best use their 3 giant forwards, which is currently down to 2 without Riewoldt. Brisbane surprised me last week beating Carlton down here at the Dome, while St. Kilda didn't surprise me falling just short of Collingwood.

Brisbane by 7 goals

The MCG hosts one of very few safe tips for the round with the struggling Dees taking on the undefeated Hawks. The only thing the Demons have going for them this week is wanting to give injured and now retiring skipper David Neitz a good send off, even though he's not playing.

Hawthorn by 10 goals

The twilight game is at the Dome and will be a thriller. The almost undefeated Bulldogs (1 draw no losses) take on the Kangaroos. Both teams won close games away from home last weekend with the Roos having to go all the way to Cairns to beat the Eagles by a goal, while the Dogs travelled to Perth to beat the struggling Dockers by half a goal.

Western Bulldogs by 3 goals

Happy tipping.

My posts won't always be on the same day, so subscribe to this blog to get it hot off the press every week. I'll only ever post a round wrap-up and a couple of days later i'll do a preview, including my tips for the round.

West Coast suck sooo much this year. I wonder how long it will take them to recover..
